A series of phenolic compounds has been screened for antioxidant activity. The study was carried out on a transplantable rat hepatoma (HTC) cell line using DCFDA fluorescent probe. Compounds with antioxidant potential, namely dibromo derivatives of flavonoid pinostrobin, pinocembrin and artemisinin, can exert antioxidant effect on the HTC hepatoma cell line reducing the fluorescence intensity of the probe on reactive oxygen species (ROS) when incubating them with cells for 48 hours. Natural flavonoids with antioxidant activity are of interest for pharmacological investigations.
