Cats: human’s dangerous neighbours

The aim of this work is to review current publications on diseases whose pathogens can be transmitted from cats to humans. New and emerging infections pose a serious threat to global health. The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the COVID-19 pandemic have demonstrated the importance of studying and controlling zoonotic infections.
Results: it was shown that cats, as the most common domestic animal, can be a source of various infectious diseases, including viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal diseases. The diseases discussed in this review are united by the possibility of transmission from cat to human, although several transmission mechanisms are possible for some of these infectious diseases. |
